8 Calming Bedroom Paint Colour Schemes to Help You Unwind

White is sometimes seen as a stark, plain, cold colour, but actually, it's a fitting choice for a bedroom, as long as you pair it with the right soft furnishings and accessories. White can be really soothing and peaceful, as you'll see from these room examples below. On the left, the main colour is Chantilly Lace 2121-70, one of Benjamin Moore's most popular paint shades. The dark wood furniture and ceiling beam add texture and warmth, as does the cosy throw and rug. It's the perfect, unadorned look for the minimalist. 

 

In the photo on the right, the off-white wall is painted in 'Portland Stone Pale' from Little Greene. This is the palest shade in the Portland Stone family, which revolves around varying degrees of a soft, putty colour. The wall hooks and furniture in this photo are painted in Portland Stone Deep to bring in an earthy tone, while the pale pink/beige floral wallpaper and furnishings add a touch of femininity to the room. 

An ever-popular colour in the modern home, grey is naturally calming and is ideal for creating a relaxed environment. Paired with white, grey looks fresh and sophisticated. In the picture on the left below, the walls have been painted in a warm, smokey taupe – Benjamin Moore Silver Fox 2108-50 in Regal Select, Matte. Baby's Breath OC-62 in Advance, Matte has been used on the ceiling. In the below right image, Little Greene's Lead Colour is used on the walls, and yellow and white furnishings help brighten up the room. 

Not to be reserved for little girls' bedrooms, pale or dusky pink is a great choice for a grown up, tranquil bedroom sanctuary. In the below left image, the wall is painted in Foggy Morning 2106-70, which is part of the Benjamin Moore 2021 Colour Trends Palette. It's a pretty, serene pink. In the below right photo, you'll see Little Greene's very stylish Nether Red. It is actually a muddy red colour, but with just a hint of pink. For a truly restful night's sleep, consider using a dark coloured paint in the bedroom. A dark shade will instantly give the room a cosy yet contemporary feel. You don't necessarily need to colour drench the entire room in a dark shade; try it on one wall, or part of a wall even.
